In the template selection area, you choose the basis for a new mailing. A template determines the mailing's structure, the layout used, and the editor you will use for subsequent work. This means you do not have to create mailings from scratch every time; instead, you can build upon existing structures.

Selecting an editor

First, select the appropriate editor at the top of the page. The Drag & Drop Builder is the default editor and is suitable for visually designed, responsive mailing templates. Content is created using a modular system, allowing for edits without directly working on the HTML code.

The HTML Editor is designed for users who wish to work directly with the source code. It is useful for implementing custom layouts or making technical adjustments to existing HTML templates. The Text Editor is used for plain-text messages and is suitable for particularly streamlined, minimalist mailings.

Which editors are visible depends on administrative settings and your assigned permissions.

Searching and filtering templates

If there are many templates, you can narrow down the list using various filters. Use the search field to look for a specific term within a template's name or content. You can also filter by client if templates have been assigned to specific clients.

The "Folder" filter allows you to further refine the display. Folders help organize templates by topic or structure - for example, by client, department, campaign, or recurring mailing type.

Personal, All, and System templates

Use the "My Templates," "All Templates", and "System Templates" options to determine which templates are displayed.

"My Templates" lists templates that have been assigned to you or created by you. "All Templates" shows a comprehensive selection of the templates available in the account. "System Templates" are pre-designed templates that can serve as a starting point for new mailing jobs.

Adjusting the sort order

Use the sorting options to define the order in which the templates are displayed. For example, you can sort by creation date, displaying either newer or older templates first. Alternatively, you can sort by name.

This is useful if you want to quickly locate recently created templates or prefer an alphabetical overview.

Reviewing a template

Each template appears as a separate entry. You can view the template's name, a brief preview or description (where available), the creation date, the creator, and the assigned client. This allows you to verify that the template suits your planned mailing before making a selection.

If there are multiple pages of templates, use the pagination controls to navigate to the next page.

Using or customizing a template

Selecting "Use/Customize Template" allows you to choose a template and proceed to the next step of your mailing process. Depending on the template and the editor, you can then edit and customize the content to prepare it for your specific mailing.

In short, you can either use a template directly as a basis or modify it first to better suit your planned mailing.

Importing templates

An import function is also available under "More Actions". This allows you to import templates into myconvento - useful when you want to reuse existing templates or bring them in from another system.

Summary

Template selection is the starting point for new mailing jobs. First, select the appropriate editor, narrow down the templates using search, client, or folder filters, and then decide whether you want to view your own templates, all templates, or system templates. Use the "Use/Customize Template" option to select the desired template as the basis for your mailing.
