Widget Dashboard Explained

The widget dashboard is the information-focused view of the dashboard.

The widget dashboard is the information-focused view of the dashboard. While the "myconvento Apps" view is primarily designed for quickly opening modules, the widget dashboard displays key information, tasks, appointments, searches, and quick actions directly on the home page.

This view is ideal if you want to see what is currently important immediately after logging in. You can customize your widget dashboard to suit your daily workflow.

What is a widget?

A widget is an individual content block on the dashboard. Depending on the type of widget, it can display information, provide a search function, list current records, or allow you to execute an action directly.

Widgets vary widely. Some simply display information, while others allow for direct input or take you to a specific area of myconvento with a single click.

This turns the dashboard into a personalized work overview. Instead of opening each module individually, you can consolidate important alerts and functions right on the home page.

Activating the widget dashboard

You can switch between "myconvento Apps" and the widget dashboard using the toggle switch on the dashboard. When you select the widget dashboard, the app tiles are hidden, and your configured widgets are displayed instead.

myconvento remembers which dashboard view you used last. If you work with the widget dashboard regularly, it may therefore be active again the next time you visit the page.

Customizing the page

When the widget dashboard is active, the Customize page button appears in the top navigation bar. You can use this button to configure your dashboard widgets.

Here, you can determine which widgets are visible and how they are arranged. You can hide any widgets you do not need. You can place frequently used widgets higher up or in a specific area.

This keeps your dashboard organized and displays exactly the information that is important for your work.

Available widgets

The widgets available to you depend on your module permissions and the features enabled for your account. It is therefore normal for different users to see different widgets.

Moving widgets

The widget dashboard is divided into several areas. Widgets can be rearranged within these areas or moved between them.

To move a widget, click its header, hold down the mouse button, and drag and drop it to the desired position. Once you release the mouse button, the widget is placed in the new location.

This allows you to customize your dashboard step-by-step to suit your workflow. You should place frequently used widgets higher up, while less important widgets can be placed further down or hidden.

Updating or removing widgets

Depending on the widget, additional actions may be available. Some widgets can be refreshed, closed, or hidden via the dashboard configuration. The available options depend on the specific widget.

If a widget is no longer relevant, you can remove it from your view using "Customize page". This does not delete any data; it simply hides the corresponding dashboard block.

When is the widget dashboard useful?

The widget dashboard is particularly helpful if you want to keep track of up-to-date information regularly - for example, when working with tasks, events, reports, shipping dates, research, or contacts.

This view is also useful for users who need an overview of upcoming items first thing in the morning. Instead of opening multiple modules individually, the dashboard displays key information in one consolidated view.

Why can't I see a widget?

If a widget is not visible to you, there could be several reasons. It may have been hidden via "Customize page". Alternatively, you might lack the necessary permissions for the corresponding module, or the module may not have been enabled for your account.

If you need a specific widget, please contact your internal administrator or myconvento Support.

Tips for an organized widget dashboard

Place the most important widgets at the top. This ensures you see what is relevant to you immediately after logging in.

Hide widgets you do not use regularly; an overcrowded dashboard can become cluttered and difficult to navigate.

Review the layout periodically. Your dashboard should be adjusted whenever your tasks change.

Use the widget dashboard as a personal workspace, not just an information page. The better the widgets align with your work, the faster you can get up to speed after logging in.

Summary

The widget dashboard transforms your dashboard into a personalized overview of information and tasks. Widgets allow you to consolidate current information, searches, tasks, appointments, and quick actions directly on the home page.

Use the "Customize page" feature to control which widgets are displayed. You can arrange and move them into available areas using drag-and-drop, allowing you to configure the dashboard to suit your daily workflow.
