In addition to a username and password, myconvento offers extra ways to better secure user account access. These include logging in with a passkey and using two-factor authentication. Both methods require an additional form of verification for logging in. This provides better protection for your account should your password be accidentally revealed or fall into the wrong hands.

Logging in with a passkey

When logging in with a passkey, you first sign in as usual using your username and password. However, the login process is not fully completed immediately after entering these credentials. Instead, myconvento sends an additional passkey to the user's email address.

You then enter this passkey on the login page. The login process is only finalized—and you are redirected into myconvento—once the correct passkey has been entered.

This method adds an extra layer of security because, in addition to the password, access to the user's email inbox is also required. Even if someone knows your username and password, that alone is not enough to complete the login process.

Two-factor authentication

Another security measure is two-factor authentication. Users must activate this themselves in the "My Profile" section. Once activated, a code from an authentication app is also required during login.

To set this up, first install a suitable authentication app on your smartphone. Supported apps include free options such as:

  • Google Authenticator for Android and iOS
  • Microsoft Authenticator for Android and iOS
  • Aegis Authenticator for Android
  • FreeOTP Authenticator for Android and iOS
  • Sophos Authenticator for Android and iOS
  • Authenticator Pro for Android.

After installation, go to the "My Profile" section in myconvento. Click the "Activate authentication" button. Then, wait for a QR code to appear and scan it using your authentication app. This links your myconvento account to the app.

Logging in with two-factor authentication enabled

When two-factor authentication is active, you still log in using your username and password first. Afterward, myconvento also requests the current code from your authentication app. This code changes regularly and is valid for a short time only.

The login process is completed only after this code is entered correctly. This provides better protection for your account, even if someone knows your password. To log in, you also need the device on which you have set up the authentication app.
