From Idea to Content

In Storydriver, work on a new post often begins with an initial idea. This could be a topic, an event, an observation, a keyword, or a specific reason for communication.

In Storydriver, work on a new post often begins with an initial idea. This could be a topic, an event, an observation, a keyword, or a specific reason for communication. This initial idea can later evolve into planned content that is further developed, assigned to a channel, and integrated into the editorial workflow.

The "Ideation" and "Content Ideas" sections help you navigate this process in a structured way—moving from the initial consideration of a topic to a concrete content idea.

Gathering and developing ideas

In the "Ideation" section, you can capture initial topic concepts. In the "My Content Idea" field, you describe the core subject matter. It doesn't need to be a finished title or a fully drafted text yet; often, a brief thought, a term, or a topic intended for future development is sufficient.

Additionally, you can collect relevant terms using the "Keywords for my content idea" feature. These help categorize the idea and sharpen its thematic focus, gradually transforming a rough thought into a more tangible topic.

Using the "What is it about?" search function, you can enter terms and check which topics, contexts, or keywords match them. The "Which term fits best?" section helps you define the idea more precisely in terms of both language and content.

Creating a content idea from an initial idea

When you want to turn an initial thought into a concrete concept, you can generate a new content idea using the "Create content idea" function. This transitions the thought from the initial ideation phase into a more structured format.

A content idea is already closer to becoming a final post. It can be enriched with further details, assigned a content type, and edited later. This ensures nothing is lost, even if an idea doesn't immediately result in a finished post.

Managing content ideas

You can view all your existing ideas in the content idea list. There, you can see details such as the title, creation date, person responsible, brief text excerpts, and the assigned content type. This gives you a quick overview of existing ideas and identifies which ones are ready for further development.

The list can be displayed grouped by type. This is particularly useful when there are numerous ideas for various channels or formats. It allows you to quickly see whether an idea is intended as a blog post, newsletter, Facebook post, website content, newsroom entry, or source text, for example.

Filtering and locating items

When dealing with a large number of content ideas, the filter section proves useful. It allows you to search for specific ideas and narrow down the list.

Possible filters include:

  • Search term
  • Content type
  • Your own content ideas
  • User
  • Campaign
  • Rating

This helps you quickly find ideas relevant to a specific topic, channel, campaign, or person.

Editing and rating ideas

Existing content ideas can be edited or deleted. If an external URL is associated with an idea, it can be opened directly in a new window. This is helpful when an idea is based on an article, a source, or external inspiration.

Depending on your workflow, ideas can also be rated. This allows you to mark which approaches are particularly interesting and which ones should not be pursued further. Ratings can also be used as a filter later on.

Export and further processing

An Excel download is available via the "More actions" menu. This allows content ideas to be exported for sharing or analysis outside of myconvento.

This is useful when preparing ideas for meetings, coordinating editorial decisions, or sharing concepts with others.

Why this step is important

Not every good idea starts out as finished content. Editorial work often begins with numerous small concepts that are only evaluated, sorted, and developed further at a later stage. The idea sections in Storydriver help ensure these thoughts aren't lost.

At the same time, it paves the way for the actual content creation process. An idea can be collected, described, filtered, and rated, and subsequently transformed into a concrete post.

Summary

Storydriver supports you in the initial stage of content creation by helping you generate ideas and content concepts. You can gather topics, develop keywords, structure ideas, filter existing approaches, and transform initial thoughts into concrete content ideas. This creates a clear link between a spontaneous idea and the planned content.
