The editorial calendar displays your planned content in a calendar-based view. While the editorial schedule is structured more like a table, the editorial calendar helps you place publications on a timeline and quickly identify open slots or periods with a heavy workload.
You can access the editorial calendar in Storydriver via the "Editorial Calendar" section. You can switch between the "Editorial Schedule" and the "Editorial Calendar" at any time using the options at the top.
Selecting a calendar view
Several views are available within the calendar. Use the "Month", "Week", and "Day" options to switch between a broad monthly overview, a weekly schedule, and a detailed daily view.
The weekly view is particularly useful when planning short-term publications or coordinating multiple pieces of content within a few days. The monthly view aids in long-term topic planning, whereas the daily view is practical when a large amount of content is scheduled for a specific date.
Changing the time period
Use the arrows in the calendar to navigate to the previous or next time period. Click "Today" to jump straight back to the current date.
Additionally, you can navigate directly to a specific time period using the month and year selectors. This is handy when planning content for a future month or reviewing past publications.
Scheduling content in the calendar
Use "Add Content" to create a new content item directly from the calendar. Depending on your workflow, this allows you to quickly capture a new article, social media post, newsroom item, or other content format.
In the calendar view, content items are displayed according to their publication date. This gives you an at-a-glance view of what is scheduled and when, helping you ensure that publications are distributed effectively.
Filtering and displaying content ideas
Use the "Filter" function to narrow down the visible content. This is helpful if you want to view only specific content types, owners, statuses, campaigns, or time periods.
There is also a "Content Ideas" section. This allows you to incorporate existing ideas into your planning and develop concrete content from them. In this way, the process from the initial idea to publication remains transparent.
Keeping the calendar up to date
Use the "Refresh" function to reload the calendar view. This is useful when you or other team members are editing content, changing dates, or creating new posts simultaneously.
Depending on your permissions, additional functions are available under "View" and "More actions" that allow you to customize the display or how you work with the calendar data.
Summary
The editorial calendar serves as a visual complement to the editorial plan. It displays scheduled content by date, supports monthly, weekly, and daily views, and helps coordinate publication timing more effectively. This allows you to quickly see when specific content is scheduled to appear and whether your planning is balanced.
