Working with the Kanban board

The Kanban board displays your Storydriver tasks not as a table, but as clear cards arranged in multiple columns. Each column represents a specific processing status. This allows you to quickly see which tasks are still open, which are currently being worked on, and which have already been completed.

You can access the Kanban board via "Storydriver → Tasks → Kanban board". You can switch back to the tabular view at any time using the adjacent "Task list" tab.

Kanban board layout

Tasks on the Kanban board are grouped by status. The columns are "Open", "Waiting", "In progress" and "Completed". The header of each column also displays the number of tasks currently in that status.

Each task is displayed as a card. The card shows the task title, the person responsible, and - depending on the task - additional information such as the due date or a brief description.

Opening tasks

To view a task in more detail or edit it, click the title on the task card. This opens the task dialog, where you can check and modify the status, assignee, due date, description, or content assignment.

This allows you to continue working on individual tasks directly from the visual overview.

Showing all tasks or only your own

Above the board, you can toggle between "Show all" and "My tasks". Selecting "Show all" displays tasks assigned to anyone; this is ideal for a shared team overview.

Selecting "My tasks" filters the board to show only the tasks assigned to you, turning the Kanban board into a personal work overview.

Moving tasks via drag & drop

On the Kanban board, tasks can be moved between status columns using drag & drop. Simply drag a task card to another column to change the task's status. For example, you can move a task from "Open" to "In Progress" when you start working on it, or to "Completed" when the task is finished. This allows you to quickly update the task status visually without having to open the task's detailed view.

Creating new tasks

You can also create a new task directly from the Kanban board using the "New Task" option. In the dialog, you enter the title, status, assignee, due date, and description. If necessary, the task can also be linked to existing Storydriver content.

Tracking task status

The Kanban board is particularly useful for visually tracking task progress. Open tasks appear at the beginning of the workflow, while completed tasks remain visible at the end.

This makes it easy to see at a glance whether many tasks are still open, whether tasks are awaiting feedback, or if a specific area of work is currently under a heavy workload.

Summary

The Kanban board offers a visual alternative to the task list. Tasks are grouped by status as cards, providing a quick overview. Use "Show all" to keep an eye on team tasks, or "My tasks" to focus on your own to-dos.
